Aylsford is a project where SKJ Steel Services designed, fabricated, painted and installed all the works. Given a short time frame 85 tons was added to the existing building to give a lot more size, space, strength and access within the building. This project was fabricated in just 4 weeks and installed in another 4 weeks making this project a very quick turn around meeting all our clients needs. On install our SKJ site team, set out all column studding drilled and set them prior to installation, this is very important or could throw out all the steel. The SKJ site team had a tricky install, this is where their IPAF skills came in and managed to manoeuvre around the existing building to get all beams, columns and braces into place. The whole project went smoothly and very happy with the results.

At Rochester Airport, SKJ Steel Services revitalized an old building through design, fabrication, repair, and installation. The project began with comprehensive steel repairs, including strengthening columns, replacing corroded rivets, and adding new structural steel. The original truss was painted for long-term durability.

Once repairs were completed, new steel was fitted, and three new columns were added to support the cladding sheets. A new canopy was installed, enhancing the building’s appearance and protection. The team then set and levelled the purlins for the new cladding, ensuring a perfect fit. Cladding sheets were installed meticulously, followed by finishing touches with flashings. The project concluded with the installation of iconic lettering on Hangar 3, giving the building a fresh, new life.

It was built in the 1820s to serve the officers and workers of the then newly constructed Royal Naval Dockyard at Sheerness on the Isle of Sheppy.

It continued in use for a time after the Dockyard closed in 1960. Later it became a sports facility and a store. In 2001, the church was gutted by fire and the beloved building’s future looked uncertain. SKJ Steel have come into the project to restore the famous Church back to beauty. This project was fabricated, painted and installed by SKJ Steel. The newly fabricated beams was made to support the new tower adding strength and stability as the old tower was corroded after the fire in 2001. The SKJ site team installed the new beams via a tower crane and did amazing work manoeuvring massive beams around lots of scaffolding using block and tackle. The installation went amazing allowing other trades to continue their work. We are excited to see this building back to its former glory.
